Erasure - 04. d'Loup Estate Library

Erasure - 04

Another short room. Similar to yesterday's room, this one offers a relatively safe way to introduce the party to one of the factions, namely Princess Juniper and her war-weary soldiers. The group is not as hostile to Apolline, who in their time and context is a respected Countess, albeit one who does challenge the Princess to frequent succession duels. As long as they are engaged with respectfully, the soldiers can give the party an idea of what to expect in the Plaza section of the dungeon.

The past couple entries tested my memory of what the d'Loup Estate's maps look like. In my point map outline, I had three connections to this room and while writing realized there are only two doors.1 So I tweaked things so the north-east door, which normally connects to the sitting room of the d'Loup Estate, is now one-way. From the library side, it opens to room 22. in the Plaza area. From the sitting room side, it opens to the library. This both plays-up that this is an unnatural space built off of memories and acts as a callback to when the party first visited the d'Loup Estate, and it was riddled with planar rifts that turned it and the astral ship it was entangled with into a entwined maze.

  1. Actually looking at the map while putting this post together, there does appear to be a third door. I like the idea of the one-way door more, so I am not going to change this.
