Erasure - 05. d'Loup Estate Sitting Room

Erasure - 05

Room 05. is the sitting room in the d'Loup estate. Similar to the first four rooms, I have a map for this and don't have to do extensive work. Similar to the past two rooms, it serves to tease and lead-into one of the zones controlled by a Juniper. Unlike the other rooms, and reflective of who the third Juniper, Languished Juniper is, this one doesn't have troops - it has a trap.

The one-way door leading to room 16. and the Shrine area of Erasure is barred by two metal, blue-colored arms. When something alive (or replicating alive) approaches them, the arms unhook and try to grab the target. The individual must make a Saving Throw vs. Magic to avoid being restrained. If restrained, they take 1d8 bludgeoning damage each round until they fall unconscious, at which point the arms let go. The restrained character can attempt to escape each round by succeeding on a Dexterity check.

The idea is the arms replicate a kind of infrequent monster the party has encountered that in-turn serves the cursed Princess Juniper in Castle Winterbough - Ice Guards. These are living ice sculptures who attempt to capture wanderers and drag them into Winterbough City, as part of the cursed Princess' desperation to not lose anything else. Languished Juniper represents the most grief-stricken memories of the woman that Erasure managed to steal from her, so using Ice Guards as her minions feels thematic.

I think this is the last of the easy rooms. After here I am going to have to do more thinking and planning. Posting might slow as a result - my sleep schedule's still a mess, and it makes it hard to get creative in the evenings. I'm going to make an honest effort to keep as close as possible to daily updates, though.
